Biographical Profile Donna Casey received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the State University of New York, her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from the University of Virginia School of Nursing, her Masters in Arts degree in Clinical Biomedical Ethics from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Nevada. Donna completed an Executive Fellowship with the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC in 2008. She has over 30 years of professional nursing experience including clinical practice, education and leadership.
Donna served as co-chair of Health System Ethics Committees providing leadership in education, policy and clinical consultation. Donna served on and chaired the American Nurses Association Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board where she contributed to the body of knowledge designed to address ethical issues at the state, national and international level. She developed and disseminated information about and advocated for public policy and assured that objectives regarding ethics and human rights were addressed.
Donna formed Family Nurse Consulting after over 30 years of seeing patients and families suffer from making decisions based on inadequate information, lack of insight into patient's desires and lack of advocacy. Donna is passionate about ensuring people have the information and support needed to make medical decisions that are consistent with their values.
